Our History

The rich history of Makindye SS masterfully illustrates how education for young men and women developed and flourished since 1990 when the school came into existence. Whilst it was founded in 1990 to serve the surrounding area; the turn of events brought a new owner and a new identity, as a finishing school for boys and girls (boarders & day scholars), noted for their academic excellence.

Since 1990, Makindye SS grew in stature and reputation, developing a strong academic provision and a remarkably broad co-curricular program with an extensive suite of facilities to enable the learners’ education. Of course, the history of Makindye SS can truly be discovered in the individual stories of the students and the members of staff who have travelled its hallways. It is their experiences that add depth and colour to the school’s identity and make Makindye SS the school that it is today.
